Golf in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is today the hottest spot to tee-off in the Caribbean.

Its world class golf offer counts with more than 20 championship courses created by the most renowned designers. The Dominican Republic is home to some of the most spectacular golf courses in the Caribbean. Since world renowned Teeth of the Dog, created by designer legend Pete Dye, was opened in Casa de Campo in 1971, golf the Dominican Republic has not stopped growing with new golf courses opening every year.

Golf in the Dominican Republic is being recognized and rewarded at the international level. Just recently the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) named the DR as the “Golf destination of the year in the Caribbean and Latin America”.

  • Golfweek ranked several Dominican golf courses in its “Best Courses of the Caribbean and Mexico” 2009 ranking: Cap Cana’s Punta Espada was ranked #1, Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog #3, Dye Fore #7, La Romana Country Club #19, Roco Ki’s Faldo Legacy Course #20 and Links #37.
  • Golf Magazine ranked Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog “The Best Golf” in the Caribbean in 2009 and #42 on its “Top 100 World Courses” in 2009.
  • Celebrated Living included La Cana and Teeth of the Dog, among its “Top 20 International Golf Courses” in 2009.
